Can you get a virus from a porno site, even if you have antivirus software?

I have to let other people use my computer, and I know some of them go to porno sites. I have antivirus software, but is there any way the computer can still get some kind of virus if multiple porno sites are visited?

Actually most people get their computers infected by clicking something in their email that has a virus, or downloading a program that is already infected.

However, it's also common for people to visit a web page, like a porn site, and then suddenly they are asked to install an "ActiveX" control (usually seen displayed at the top of their web browser) that can maliciously then install and run other dangerous programs like a keylogger or virus program.

ActiveX controls though can also be valid and required with some sites. For example, if you were to run an anti-virus online scan you might need to allow your browser to install the ActiveX controller program.

In any event, if you visited a porn site, or any site, and suddenly before the web page is completely displayed you are being bombarded to install something in order to view or continue, think twice.

If don't see any valid reason to install the ActiveX program, then don't allow it to be installed. Your IE browser will also warn you first by flashing a bar at the top of your browser to give you the choice to install or not.
