i have an older version of norton and my computer aparently is infected, because when i use internet i have trouble. So i bought another antivirus 2008 , i want to know if the new program will clean up whatever virus im infected with automatically when i install it or I have to clean it up first and then install it.

It's sure best to. Go to www.ewido.com and run their online scan. Then go to TrendMicro and run THEIR online scan. Between the two, you should catch and clean everything.

When you install the new version, and do a scan, it should get rid of it.
Depend on what antivirus program u ar going to use, Norton and Mcafee is known for viruses, so most viruses or trojans is designed to stop them from working...get something new...use F-secure or NOD32.
