Is AVG AntiVirus a good AntiVirus or it's not reliable at all?

I've asked this question because some people told me that AVG is not that strong and that it can't detect some viruses.Does it expire?As far as I know it does'nt and in fact it's free but I wonder why mine only lasted for 6 months.By

AVG is a very good anti-virus. It does miss some viruses, but then the same is true for EVERY anti-virus, be it free or cost $5000. AVG has the added advantage of being very light on your system resources, so you virtually don't feel it's presence. AVG has a free version, which is free for life. I guess you were using AVG 7.1 which expired in January this year. The latest version of AVG is 7.5, you can get the free version from

You can of course use any other anti-virus, but stick to these three rules whatever your anti-virus may be:

1.Always keep your anti-virus updated.

2.Always keep the real time protection or resident shield of your anti-virus on.

3.Scan your computer every 5-10 days.
