"Norton" is crap and a very bad antivirus software. "Norton" was very good a couple of years ago, but today, it's only crap.

Delete %26 uninstall Norton from your system and get a better antivirus software..

There is a great %26 free antivirus software named "Avira" - it's from Germany and absolutely free for private users (and also in English), go to http://www.free-av.com for a free download.

Or, you also can download the AVG Free or the free antivirus software AVAST...But, remember: only ONE antivirus software on your computer - otherwise, your computer might get in troubles!!!

Greetings from Germany

Probably Its a Virus problem or may be ur antivirus is not properly update. update ur antivirus and then run scan again
Get NOD32 it takes the least amount of resources and works so much better that Norton. Norton was good many years ago now it is garbage. Im an IT guy and this is what i use for the 200 computers that are in my network. Have never had a problem, in fact many of the most dangerous viruses have been found by NOD32 and yes the viruses were blocked. So go check it out you wont be disapointed. You can get a free 30 days to try it out, and if u like it you can buy it for 30 bucks (chump change for the protection it gives).Good luck
Sounds like maybe the user has more programs that he's supposed to have running during an antivirus scan. Also, how much memory do you have? Norton is a system hog.. so if you don't have juice in your computer, your going to be in serious trouble.
it doesent its just that the file its scanning at the time is big

plus its not made for you to be doing something else while its running

Norton is a good antivirus however it is a high RAM program so first reinstall Norton, and if it still freezes up try closing some other processes. If it still continues then get another antivirus like Trend Micro or AVG
