i have had trend micro antivirus since winter now and i have never been able to update my software. it says i need to type in the code to register and then i can fully activate my software but i never can upgrade. all i can do is scan with very outdated software. i have a customer care account and i am all registered but how can i actually activate my software fully?? please help!!!!!

Follow the directions in this link. Make sure you have your registration info ready.
If that does not work. You might consider reinstalling your software %26 then registering it for updates. Make sure that you have a copy of the software before you uninstall it.
Edit:
You did not specify which version you are using or the operating system you are using it on. The second link discusses a known issue with some products not being able to update due to their being outdated and not using the newest format rediering them incompatible w/current updates (think round hole, square peg). So it's possible that you purchased a product that is being affected. You just need to download a fix for your particular version.
