I have a virus on my computer if i install norton antivirus will it permanently remove the virus? Or will i have to go to a professional?

Hopefully you have an anti-virus program already so you won't need to install Norton.

If you have, scan with the AV program you've got and see if that removes it. If it doesn't, boot into Safe Mode and re-scan.

Failing that, try a free online scan using NOD32: http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

There's nothing wrong with Norton. OK, it's big and slow but it's good at what it does. Nevertheless, you can get a decent anti-virus for free, e.g. Avast or AntiVir. If you want to buy an even better anti-virus then NOD32 and Kaspersky are better than Norton / McAfee / etc.
